LAHORE, Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) on Tuesday submitted resolutions in the Punjab assembly, condemning Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain’s speech against Pakistan and the subsequent attacks on media houses in Karachi.

In the condemnation resolution submitted by PTI lawmaker Shoaib Siddiqui, provocative statements of MQM Chief and attacks in ARY NEWS and Samaa by the party’s activists were strongly condemned.

The resolution also expressed solidarity with the affected media houses and the journalist community.

On Monday, Saddar area of Karachi became a battlefield after as per direction of Altaf Hussain for not properly covering MQM’s hunger strike, the party’s workers stormed the ARY NEWS and Samaa, and also engaged in clashes with police personnel, killing a person and injuring seven others.

Later, the Sindh Rangers not only arrested the MQM leaders including Dr Farooq Sattar, Khawaja Izharul Hassan and Dr Amir Liaquat but also sealed MQM related buildings including Nine-Zero Khursheed Begum Memorial Secretariat and media cell.

In a statement, the Director General Sindh Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar said that no person responsible for yesterday’s unrest in Karachi would be spared.

Bilal Akbar said that strict action would also be taken against those responsible for provoking people to create such a situation.

Meanwhile, according to the DG Sindh Rangers, situation is under control in Karachi and Hyderabad and no untoward incident happened throughout the night.

The DG Rangers said that business, educational institutions, petrol pumps and hotels are open while traffic flow is normal on Tuesday in the Provincial Capital.
