National AssemblyPTI tenders mass resignations from NA, Qureshi boycotts PM election

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced mass resignations from the National Assembly as a protest against the alleged “Foreign Regime Change Operation” in Pakistan to topple Imran Khan’s government.

Speaking on the floor of the House in Islamabad on Monday, the Vice Chairman PTI termed the whole process illegitimate, and announced to boycott the election to be held to elect the new Prime Minister of Pakistan while the entire party has resigned from the House.

“We won’t legitimate a government which is brought by foreign intervention. We are boycotting and announcing our resignation from the National Assembly,” Qureshi said.

Qureshi was vying for the post of the Prime Minister against the President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shahbaz Sharif.

Later, the PTI members walked out of the House.

Earlier, the National Assembly resumed its Session at the Parliament House in Islamabad with Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri in the Chair.

Qasim Suri waved the threat letter before the House and said that he had sent a sealed copy of it to the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Following the announcement of PTI’s resignation, Qasim Suri also said that his conscience doesn’t allow him to further preside over the proceedings in the House, and handed over his seat to the Panel of the Chairman Ayaz Sadiq to lead the House.
