ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday said that they had full faith in the five-member bench of Supreme Court and expected the decision in Panama Papers Case be announced by the bench and not a Commission.

“We today appeal to the courts to make a five-member bench to take this (Panama) case to the end and not to get into making a Commission considering that all the institutions are under Nawaz Sharif,” Imran said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan sought opinion from the parties over constitution of a Commission for investigation into Panama Papers while the Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali Chief Justice clarified that the commission would have all the powers of a Supreme Court judge and it could acquire information from any department.imran-khan-pti

Imran Khan said that the Supreme Court itself had said that the institutions were not doing their job.

“All the feedback I have received since yesterday is not to go for a commission. Only one feedback I had was to go for a commission only if Nawaz Sharif resigns,” he said.

Talking about Wednesday’s hearing in the Supreme Court, the PTI Chief said that Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer told the bench that the prime minister’s speech in the assembly was political.

“What does this mean? That he lied to the nation on the floor of the parliament for political gain. He lied about having documentation, about having the money trail and pledged that he would present them in the court, but he lied! Yesterday what did we hear? There are no documents,” Imran said.

The PTI Chief said that we asked for a five-member bench of the Supreme Court, and a day-to-day hearing to bring this case to its end.

“We have enough faith in the competence of this Supreme Court bench and Naeem Bukhari will appeal to them tomorrow that the same bench should preside over the final decision making,” he said.

Earlier talking about the PIA flight PK-661 crash near Havelian on Wednesday in which 47 people including famous religious scholar Junaid Jamshed died, Imran said that “The entire nation is devastated because of this loss. The precious lives lost are being mourned by every Pakistani today.”

Imran Khan said that both Junaid Jamshed and Deputy Commissioner Chitral Osama Warraich would be greatly missed by the nation.

The PTI Chief said that now was the time to also look into and ask serious questions about aviation safety standards in Pakistan.
