Islamabad, Pakistan: Will there be an investigation to find who allowed the Digital Media Wing of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and state-run television PTV News and Current Affairs to target the Election Commission of Pakistan and the higher judiciary?

The Digital Media Wing of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been disbanded under the instructions of New Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb. Pakistan Television had been running shows targeting Justice Faiz Essa and Election Commission Pakistan under the PTI government. Will, there be any investigation into how private people were hired against rules to serve the PTI agenda and if they are still holding their position despite the change of government?

PTV employee’s association had gone to the court of law against illegal appointments from outside the PTV cadre in Current Affairs and News Departments and they claimed that hiring of several private persons was in contradiction of rules.

PTV circles were of the view that the new Minister of Information should investigate how illegal appointments were done and how did higher judiciary and Election Commission of Pakistan was made targets though both are constitutional institutions of the state of Pakistan. Targeting opposition through PTV and digital media wing is understood but both tools had been used for targeting the state institutions was a grave concern for many within PTV ranks.
