After the two semi-finalists from Group 1 having been decided, now it’s time to see two more qualifiers emerging from Group 2 on Sunday.

New Zealand and England have qualified from Group 1 for the semi-finals of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 to be held at Sydney and Adelaide on November 09 and 10 respectively.

The Defending Champions and Host Australia were knocked out of the tournament on Net Run Rate (NRR) after England beat Sri Lank by 4 wickets at Sydney on Saturday, gaining 2 more points to jump to second place in Points Table.

Australia just lost one match in T20 World Cup 2022 against New Zealand by 89 runs and their match against England got abandoned. They also shared 7 points with New Zealand and England but it was Aussies’ NRR which let them down.

Along with Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Afghanistan were also knocked out from Group 1.

Now six teams featuring in Group 2 will be in action on Sunday and two of them will guarantee their place in semi-finals.

If South Africa and India win their matches against Netherlands and Zimbabwe respectively, they will be through while Pakistan’ journey in the T20 World Cup will be over.

Group 2 Points Table T20 World Cup 2022

In the first T20I to be played at Adelaide on Sunday, if South Africa lose to Netherlands or the match ends in a tie, Pakistan’s prospects will still be intact.

Pakistan will meet Bangladesh at Adelaide at 09:00 am PST and a victory will take the former’s points to six.

Head to Head in T20Is: Matches 17, Pakistan won 15, Bangladesh won 2

So, in the following match, if India, which have six points, suffer a defeat against Zimbabwe at Melbourne, they will stick to have the same points. Thus, Pakistan will qualify for the semi-finals on account of better NRR.

However, it’s prerequisite for Pakistan to win their match against Bangladesh, and the rest will be decided by the outcome of other two matches.

For the match against Bangladesh, Pakistan are likely to go with the same side that defeated South Africa by 33 runs at Sydney a few days ago.
