DUBAI: The play-offs round of the first edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) will begin on Friday with the match between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators at the Dubai Cricket International Stadium.
The match is scheduled to commence at 09:00 pm according to Pakistan Standard Time (PST).
Both the teams are placed right on top of the HBL PSL points table with 12 points each. However, Peshawar Zalmi is at number one position by virtue of having better net run rate.
Meanwhile, new reinforcements have arrived for both teams as New Zealand’s Nathan McCullum has joined Quetta Gladiators and England’s Johnnie Bairstow is now part of Peshawar Zalmi.
The second qualifying final between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United will be played on Saturday.
Karachi Kings ensured its place in the play-offs after Islamabad United beat Lahore Qalandars by 5 wickets at Dubai on Wednesday night.
While batting first, Lahore Qalandars scored 150 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, Islamabad United achieved the target for 5 in 19 overs.
Lahore Qalandars remained the fifth position holder on points table; therefore it could not qualify for next round despite the fact that its player Umar Akmal is right now the top scorer in PSL with 335 runs.
