Tehran: There is a strong outcry in international media that Iran has  hanged 57 criminals in public during the last three months of year 2012 while Iranian authorities are of the view that such public  hanging help to control crime against public.

Iranian laws permit public hanging of criminals and a young man was hanged last week in sports complex. The Persian-language Internet community reacted strongly to the event. In response, Iranian authorities released a statements commenting, “The sight of an execution should serve as a lesson for others”. Between October 2011 and the end of 2012, according to official Iranian figures 488 death sentences have been carried out, 57 of them in public.
