Lahore, Pakistan: Punjab Apex Committee has decided to speed up operation against sectarianism and terrorism.

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif who chaired the meeting was of the view that government would fight out elements who are directly or indirectly involved in fanning sectarianism.

The meeting that held here in Lahore on Sunday was attended by Lahore Corps Commander Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali, National Security Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Nasir Janjua, and provincial minister for counter terrorism Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Sardar Mohammad Ayub Khan. Punjab Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan was not present in the meeting.

Sources claim that military officials gave detail presentation to Chief Minister about elements those are (were) behind fanning sectarian hate. Sources maintained that committee decided to take swift operation against those who are facilitators of terrorists and those who are behind using sectarianism for killing people.

Meanwhile, official channels of Punjab government said that apex committee also reviewed the ongoing counter-terrorism operation Raad-ul-Fasaad and expressed satisfaction over the operation Radd-ul-Fasaad in Punjab.

“Punjab government had been refraining from acknowledging that southern Punjab had been a safe haven for certain elements who are involved in fanning sectarian hate. Provincial Minister for counter terrorism Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Sardar Mohammad Ayub Khan who assumed his charge in January 2017 is clear headed person and accepts that terrorism cannot be controlled in Punjab unless sectarian hate is not restricted. Recent change in provincial policy against terrorism will help authorities to destroy sectarian mindset that provides terrorists to enemies of the country”, commented a former senior bureaucrat while requesting to hide his identity.
