LAHORE: Leader of Tehreek Minhajul Quran (TMQ) Dr. Tahirul Qadri said on Sunday that martial law would have been imposed in the country in the next five minutes if Islamabad sit-in had not been ended by him, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
In his address to the central executive committee of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Qadri said that he was in favour of a new southern Punjab province but new provinces should not be formed on the basis of political aspirations.
“A referendum should be conducted from the people of south Punjab regarding the formation of a new province,” he said.
Qadri said that his party would resist the entry of thieves to come into power in the name of democracy. “Corrupt politicians had been robbing the country for the last 65 years.”
The TMQ Chief directed party members to launch membership campaign, adding that IRI survey is a “jhurlo” survey. He said that his party would conduct a new survey through impartial people.
