ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi along with his Turkish, Palestinian, and Sudanese Counterparts will leave for New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly’s Emergency Session on Palestine.

Reportedly, the UN General Assembly will meet on Thursday to take stock of the Gaza crisis.

Last night, Shah Mahmood Qureshi on the special instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan reached Turkey on an extensive diplomatic mission to draw global attention towards the fast-deteriorating situation in Palestine.

From Turkey, Qureshi along with foreign ministers of Sudan, Palestine, and Turkey will leave for New York.

The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will also address the Emergency Session of the UN General Assembly to reaffirm Pakistan’s support for the cause of oppressed Palestinians.

During his stay in New York, Qureshi will hold important meetings with different key figures and talk to international media and present Pakistan’s stance over the situation in Palestine.

In complete defiance and disregard to human rights and international law, the Israeli forces are continuing the barbaric and callous airstrike against unarmed Palestinians in Gaza and West Bank.

More than 200 people including children have been killed in Israeli raids on Gaza; however, the number is expected to rise as ambulance and civil defense teams continue to dig through the rubble of dozens of destroyed buildings.

Meanwhile speaking on the floor of the National Assembly on Monday, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced to observe the coming Friday as a day of solidarity with the people of Palestine and to condemn Israeli aggression against them.

The foreign minister said that Pakistan strongly condemns indiscriminate attacks on unarmed people of Palestine.

Qureshi said that Pakistan strongly raised its voice at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other world forums including during interaction with world leaders, against Israeli barbarism on Muslim brothers and sisters of Palestine.

The foreign minister said that a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the European Union is taking place tomorrow (Tuesday) and it is hoped that the forum will raise its voice for the sake of humanity and to protect the fundamental human rights of the Palestinians.
