ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Monday that Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah’s statement about military courts was based on his lack of knowledge regarding their establishment.
It is pertinent here that Rana Sanaullah said while talking to media in Lahore on Sunday that performance of military courts had not been up to the mark.
In a statement on Monday, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the military courts had played an important role in elimination of terrorism from the country.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the military courts performed their responsibilities under the Constitution in the given time in an effective manner.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that following the expiry of mandated period given under the 21st Constitutional amendment, military courts had stopped functioning.
“The military courts have ceased to function on expiry of mandated period,” the ISPR said.
