Relentless Coronavirus has claimed 12 lives in Pakistan; 1,415 infected

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The persistent and exponential growth in Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cases in Pakistan has already triggered grave health concerns, stimulating the efforts by the authorities to curtail its spread as well as to accelerate the relief activities.

As many as 1,415 people throughout the Country have been diagnosed with the Coronavirus so far while Punjab with 497 Cases and Sindh with 457 Cases remain the most affected provinces.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has suffered 180 Cases, Balochistan 133, Gilgit Baltistan 107, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) 39, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) 2.

Besides, the death tally across the Country has reached 12. Five of the deceased belonged to Punjab, four to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one each to Sindh, Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan.

However, 25 of the Coronavirus-infected patients have recovered with Allah’s blessings. Most of the recovered occurred in Sindh wherein 14 patients won the battle against the virus. Four got recovered in Punjab, three in Gilgit Baltistan, and two each in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the ICT.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr. Zafar Mirza visited the Isolation Center for Coronavirus patients at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements there.

Talking to the media after his visit, the special assistant said that appropriate facilities are being provided to the patients, who also were satisfied with the facilities.

Dr. Zafar Mirza said that the number of isolation rooms has been increased from 10 to 30 at PIMS and with every passing day facilities are being enhanced.

Meanwhile, a Chinese Special Flight carrying a team of eight medical professionals and relief assistance is reaching Islamabad today (Saturday) to help Pakistan in the fight against the COVID-19.

The Chinses assistance to Pakistan so far includes 12,000 test kits, 30 million masks, 10,000 protective suits and US$ 4 million to build an Isolation Hospital.

Earlier the Chinese Alibaba Foundation and Jack Ma Foundation also donated 50,000 test kits and 5,00,000 face masks to Pakistan.

Besides, China also handed over two tons of masks, test kits, ventilators, medical protective clothes through Khunjerab.
