Srinagar: Valley was shut down on Sunday on the call of Hurriyet Conference to protest police action against students and teachers of Polytechnic College Gogji Bagh Srinagar.

Valley police on Saturday thrashed hundreds of students including girls of PolytecnicsCollege Gogji Bagh on Saturday April 29 2017 who were demonstrating against arrests of students by police last week.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while condemning the thrashing of students by police said that subjugating and depoliticizing the younger Kashmiri generation is destroying their lives and educational career.

According to information gathered from all over the valley, market and fuel stations were shut down on Sunday April 30.

“Normal life was affected in the Kashmir Valley on Sunday due to a strike called by Hurriyet leadership to protest the killing of a civilian in firing by Indian occupation forces  in Kupwara district on Thursday”, reports Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency.

Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) is not resting after the brutal murder of Burhan Muzafar Wani last year. Burhan was killed in an operation on July 8, 2016 along with two other freedom fighters Sartaj Ahmad Sheikh and Pervaiz Ahmad Lashkaria.

 

IOK is under constant curfew and social media applications including Facebook are closed down by Indian authorities to control contact among youth that is taken Kashmir freedom movement in their hands.
