Rs 151 million to be spent on improving special education in Punjab

LAHORE: An amount of Rs 151 million will be spent on the improvement of special education facilities in Punjab by the end of financial year 2013-14, the provincial minister Asif Saeed Manais said.

The minister said that the government is giving high priority to the special education and is committed to provide conducive learning environment to the special children. He said that eight ongoing and 17 new schemes would be completed without foreign aid.

Separately, the Punjab government has announced to launch technical and vocational training courses in various trades in collaboration with the UK agency for international development.

In the first phase, these courses are being conducted in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal and Vehari. In the next phase, these courses will be started in remaining districts.
