LAHORE, Pakistan: As the Punjab government will unveil its budget for next fiscal year, media reports said that Rs 550 billion have been allocated for development programme and Rs 18 billion have been earmarked for energy projects.

Likewise, Rs 40 billion have been allocated for irrigation and Rs 3.83 billion for industries in the Punjab Budget 2016-17.

The provincial government has allocated Rs 13.49 billion for Higher Education and Rs 0.9 billion for Special Education. Similarly, for School Education, Rs 22.62 billion have been set aside and Rs 9 billion have been set aside for the repair of damaged school buildings.

For next financial year, Rs 6 billion each has also been set aside for the laptop scheme and for the provision of facilities at schools.

The Punjab Finance Minister Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha will present the budget in the Provincial Assembly at 1600 hours on Monday.
