ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A high-level Russian delegation met the National Security Adviser Lt. General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua in Islamabad on Thursday, and said that Russia considers Pakistan as a reliable partner in South Asia and is keen to develop strong bilateral relations in all possible areas.
The Russian delegation was led by the Deputy Director General Russia Sergey S. Goreslavsky and the Chief Counsellor of Presidential Administration Valery Molostov. They discussed with the national security adviser prospects of Pakistan-Russia bilateral relations and defense cooperation between the two Countries.
The delegation mentioned of Russian support for Pakistan in different international organizations including United Nations and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
They also expressed desire to strengthen cooperation in counter terrorism and offered technical assistance to Pakistan in this area. They appreciated Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism, and said “Pakistan has conducted large scale operations against terrorism and we want to share our skills in this area”.
The Russian delegation regarded military and technical cooperation as a strongest impetus to develop political, trade and economic relations. They also offered cooperation in the domain of cyber security.
Nasser Janjua appreciated Russian spirits to improve the bilateral relationship. He briefed the delegates about regional security situation and the prospects of greater connectivity.
The adviser said that both Pakistan and the Russian Federation are two fortunate Countries who have risen beyond the past to write a fresh and enduring chapter of friendship and cooperation for a better and a brighter future.
Both sides reiterated to work in close collaboration in all possible areas.
