LAHORE, Pakistan: Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) organised 12th SAARC Trade Fair and 9th WEXNET under one roof of Expo Centre here Friday.
The three-day event aims to bring both business and consumers under one prestigious platform to network, promote their products offerings and to avail the opportunity of cultural exchange among SAARC countries, according to TDAP spokesman here.
He said, the WEXNET (Network for Women Exporters) is the largest exhibition of Pakistan for women entrepreneurs organized by Trade Development authority of Pakistan, to support and promote the SME sector where a buyer can find good quality products to suit varying testes and budgets.
WEXNET is a formalized structure which provides women with the opportunities to not only exhibit their products, network with each other, learn from others’ experiences but also to form collaborations and partnerships for mutual benefits.
It is recognized as the only national exhibition for women entrepreneurs in Pakistan since its inception in 2000.
The 9th wexnet this year is proud to received more than 350 applications from entrepreneurs representing all the regions of Pakistan and from more than 30 cities, with some ventures participating through the different trade bodies, NGOs and government organizations.
He said the 12th SAARC Trade Fair offers a unique opportunity for more than 45 exhibitors from its member countries to showcase their products for trade promotion and cultural exchange among themselves and this is the third SAARC trade exhibition hosted by Pakistan and first of its kind in Lahore.
Meanwhile, the TDAP Secretary Rabiya Javeri said, “We are really happy that businesses across SAARC countries have come here to showcase products and the WEXNET is being held in conjunction with SAARC trade fair has made it even bigger and better. We have established helpdesks of customs, National Bank of Pakistan, SECP, IPO Pakistan, TDCP and BOI for the facilitation of the exhibitors and for dissemination of information. We at TDAP have also arranged a few B2B meetings for the exhibitors of SAARC countries with business community in coordination with local trade bodies to facilitate exchange and create a synergy.”
