ISLAMABAD: Has Shahbaz Taseer, son of late governor Punjab Salman Taseer been released by abductors and now he has been shifted to un-disclosed destination out of Pakistan as a part of deal with his abductors and releasers?

“Sources claim that Shahbaz Taseer reached home after a deal with his abductors and has safely been shifted to an un-disclosed destination as it was a part of deal with abductors. However, his family sources are tight lipped over this issue and refused to comment”, said in conflicting media reports.

Earlier it was confirmed by his family with Indian media that negotiations with abductors are going on for his release.

It may be mentioned that Shahbaz Taseer was abducted after the murder of his father late Governor of Punjab province of Pakistan who was shot dead by his guard.

Shahbaz was kidnapped from Gulberg area of Lahore in August 26, 2011, some seven months after his father Salmaan, was gunned down by police guard Mumtaz Qadri in Islamabad.

There were confusing reports about his abduction and it was claimed by Taliban sources from Wazirstan that Shahbaz Taseer was kidnapped by Lashker Jhangwi and he was handed over to Taliban for ransom. It was also claimed that Taliban kept  hostage Shahbaz in Shawal area of North Wazirstan. After a month ago it was also claimed by media sources that compound where Shahbaz Taseer was hostage in an underground room was collapsed and he was killed with eight other Taliban at Shawal. After these stories ran by media, some government officials claimed that Shahbaz’s captors were demanding the release of Qadri and a huge sum as ransom.
