LAHORE, Pakistan: The Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ehsan Mani on Tuesday categorically announced that Sarfraz Ahmed would remain Pakistan Captain till the World Cup 2019, brushing aside all speculations surrounding about his replacement for the leadership role.
“I am happy to confirm that Sarfraz Ahmed will remain Pakistan captain till the World Cup. I was always clear in my mind that Sarfaraz would be the captain,” Ehsan Mani said while addressing a Press Conference in Lahore along with Sarfraz Ahmed.
Ehsan Mani expressed unflinching trust on Sarfraz Ahmed, and said the latter would continue to lead Pakistan Cricket Team in upcoming Australia series as well as ICC Men’s World Cup 2019.
“Sarfraz has been an integral part of the Pakistan’s World Cup preparations. He has proved to be a good strategist, leader and performer,” Ehsan Mani said. “He led Pakistan to Champions Trophy 2017 title as well as to top of the ICC T20I rankings.”

In his remarks, Sarfraz Ahmed expressed gratitude to the Chairman PCB for resting trust on him, and said he would make endeavors to his utmost abilities to lead the side in World Cup 2019 and yield fruitful results.
“I feel humbled and honoured to be placed in the same bracket as some of the most iconic and legendary cricketers who have previously captained Pakistan at World Cup,” Sarfraz said.
“I am convinced we are in a good shape for the World Cup. We have top quality talent and match-winners with a committed support staff in the dressing room,” he said.
