ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The 37th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Foreign Ministerial Level meeting will kick off in Pakhara City of Nepal on March 16 and it is expected that the Foreign Advisor Sartaj Aziz and the Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj will hold bilateral talks on the sidelines.
Besides Sartaj Aziz and Sushma Swaraj, Foreign minister of Maldives Dunya Maumoon, Foreign Minister of Nepal Kamal Thapa, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Mangala Pinsiri Samaraweera, Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abadul Ahsan Muhammad Ali, Bhutan Foreign Minister Damcho Dorji and Deputy Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Hekmat Khalil Karzai will attend the ‘Mini SAARC Summit’.
It is expected that Sartaj Aziz and Susham Swaraj will hold talks on the sidelines of the two-day SAARC foreign ministerial level meeting in Pakhara on March 16. However, their meeting is not official confirmed yet.
Meanwhile, the SAARC joint secretary-level meeting will begin in Pokhara Grand Hotel on Monday followed by secretary-level and foreign minister-level meetings.
The SAARC foreign minister-level meeting will be inaugurated by Nepal’s Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli on Thursday.
The Mini SAARC Summit will review the progress of ’36-point Kathmandu declaration’ adopted in the 18th SAARC Summit held in Nepalese Capital in November 2014.
