BRUNEI: Special adviser to the Prime Minister on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz held a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry on the sidelines of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Regional Forum in Brunei on Tuesday
Their meeting was the first political contact between Pakistan and United states at such a high level since assumption of power by Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz earlier last month.
During the meeting, both the leaders discussed bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest. They also discussed matters pertaining to the Afghan reconciliation process and drone attacks in Pakistan.
Earlier‚ Sartaj Aziz held a meeting with Indian foreign minister Salman Khurshid in Brunei.
They discussed bilateral issues and ways to further improve relations between the two countries.
Sartaj Aziz said we want to build strong relationship with India. He said there is a possibility of meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in September.
