QUETTA, Pakistan: The triple murder convict Saulat Mirza was executed at the Machh Jail in Balochistan on early Tuesday, nearly 17 years after he was awarded death sentence.
Following the execution, Saulat Mirza’s body accompanied by his 18 family members was shifted from Machh Jail to the Edhi morgue in Quetta
His body will be flown to Karachi in the evening where Saulat Mirza will be buried in Muhammad Shah graveyard.
On Monday, Saulat Mirza’s relatives including wife Nikhat Mirza, brother and sisters met the death row prisoner at the Machh Jail for the last time.
The hanging of Saulat Mirza was postponed multiple times. His fresh death warrants had been issued by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi on May 2.
The former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activist Saulat Mirza was sentenced to death by an ATC in May 1999 for killing the former managing director of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) Shahid Hamid, his driver Ashraf Brohi and guard Khan Akbar in July 1997.
