QUETTA, Pakistan: The former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activist Saulat Mirza will be hanged to death at the Machh Jail in Balochistan on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, his relatives including wife Nikhat Mirza, brother and sisters met the death row prisoner at the Machh Jail on Monday for the last time.
Earlier on Friday, the Sindh High Court (SHC) rejected for hearing a petition filed by wife of Saulat Mirza which sought deferment of her husband’s execution and re-opening of the Shahid Hamid murder case.
The SHC said that it could not decide the petition since the Supreme Court had already passed an order on the matter.
The hanging of Saulat Mirza has been postponed multiple times. His fresh death warrants were issued by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi on May 2.
Saulat Mirza was sentenced to death by an ATC in May 1999 for killing the former managing director of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) Shahid Hamid, his driver Ashraf Brohi and guard Khan Akbar in July 1997.
