ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday issued a notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Ghulam Sarwar Khan in a fake degree case, directing the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to verify the authenticity of educational documents of lawmaker.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry also asked for details of a pre-arrest bail obtained by Sarwar from the Lahore High Court.
A petitioner accused the PTI MNA of using diploma of a man named Ghulam Sarwar, a resident of Faisalabad, to get BA degree. The court directed the HEC to verify Sarwar’s degrees.
In addition, the court asked for verification of degrees of Nadir Magsi, Makhdoom Ali Raza, Malik Nawaz, Zeb Jafar, Maiza Hamid and Iftikhar Gilani.
