ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday suspended arrest warrant of the Auditor General of Pakistan Muhammad Akhtar Buland Rana for seven days and directed him to appear before the Tax Ombudsman and present his views.
Rana had challenged his arrest warrant issued by the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Dr Shoaib Suddle who on Friday issued warrants after the auditor general failed to appear despite repeated contempt notices.
The auditor general was summoned by the FTO for bringing into disrepute the latter’s office by unlawfully halting the special judicial allowance of the FTO but he did not appear before the ombudsman despite repeated notices.
Consequently, the FTO issued the warrants, though bailable, on June 7 against the auditor general of Pakistan.
