PESHAWAR: A situation of chaos broke out in sit-in protest staged by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Hayatabad area near Ring road in Peshawar when the PTI activists began fighting amongst themselves and resorted to aerial firing, however, fortunately no causality was reported.
On the other hand, sit-in protest being held by Imran Khan-led PTI and its allies aiming to block containers carrying supplies to NATO forces in Afghanistan against US drone strikes in Pakistani territory entered a fourth day.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, at five major highways the PTI activists set up camps where were checking vehicles which were heading to Afghanistan and only those containers were being allowed to go ahead which carried goods other than supplies for NATO forces.
The highways where camps were set up included Ring Road in Peshawar, Khairabad Bride in Noushera, Indus Highway Chowk in Bannu, Charsadda Interchange, Kohat’s Indus Highway and Korai and Ramak areas of Dera Ismail Khan.
Talking about today’s scuffle between PTI workers, a senior police official told media that two unknown youths began fighting with each other and before they managed to flee they fired shots in the air.
The police officer said that their association with the PTI was not yet ascertained, adding that investigation about the incident was underway.
