ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The district administration has imposed Section 144 in Islamabad for two days on the eve of New Year Night to prohibit the use of Motorcycles without silencers to avoid any public nuisance in the Federal Capital.

The order to impose Section 144 in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) will come into force with immediate effect on December 31, 2019 and remain in force till January 1, 2020.

I, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat, PAS, District Magistrate, Islamabad in exercise of powers conferred on me under Section 144 Cr.PC 1898 do hereby prohibit the use Motorcycles with bike silencers removed in Islamabad,” said a notification issued by the Office of the District Magistrate in Islamabad on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan presided over an important meeting to devise a comprehensive security strategy to ensure the peaceful environment in the Federal Capital on the eve of New Year.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Waqar Uddin Syed, the Director General of Safe City Project Sarfaraz Ahmed Falki, and other senior officers of Islamabad Police.

It was decided in the meeting that strict legal action will be taken against aerial firing, one wheelers and bike racers in the ICT.
