Sehba Musharaf submits application in interior ministry to remove Musharaf's name from ECL

ISLAMABAD: Begum Sehba Musharraf, wife of former President Pervez Musharraf, moved an application to the interior ministry on Saturday to remove Musharraf’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL), media reports said.

The reports said that the application included various reasons including the former president’s illness to get his name removed from the ECL. It contended that the Pervez Musharraf wanted to travel abroad along with his family members.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) accepted a petition filed by the Lal Masjid Shuhada Foundation, seeking to bar former President Pervez Musharraf from leaving the country. In the petition filed on Friday, the federal interior minister, interior secretary and IG Islamabad were made parties.

The IHC will begin hearing the petition on January 6.

The former president was rushed to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi on Thursday after he suffered heart problem while en route towards the special court hearing the treason case against him.

Earlier in the morning, Pervez Musharraf was shifted to military hospital’s VIP ward from the intensive care unit (ICU) after he showed signs of recovery.

Talking to media, his spokesman Major General (retd) Rashid Qureshi confirmed the former president’s recovery and said that doctors collected more blood samples on Saturday morning and few blood reports had been prepared.

A seven-member medical board constituted for Musharraf’s treatment has yet to decide whether or not the former president be referred for medical assistance abroad.
