Moscow, Russia: Senator Mushahid Hussain, Chairman, Senate Foreign Affairs Committee has said that Pakistan suffered most in anti-terror fight and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is key to Asian connectivity.

Addressing at the 10th General Assembly of International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) here in Moscow, he highlighted Pakistan’s sacrifices in the campaign against terrorism & role in promoting Asian connectivity through CPEC.

In his speech, Senator Mushahid Hussain who is also the Vice Chairman of International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) referred to ‘the tremendous contributions and sacrifices by the valiant people and armed forces of Pakistan in the struggle against terrorism, with over 75,000 casualties.

He added that Pakistan is now ‘playing a pivotal role as the hub of Asian connectivity through CPEC, which is the centrepiece of the Belt & Road Initiative (BRI) of China’.

He also praised the contribution of Russia and China for Asian peace and security, including their role against ISIS in Syria.

He said Pakistan would oppose any attempt to ignite a new Cold War in Asia, urging that “Asian hands alone should determine the destiny of Asia”.

The concluding session was addressed by Prime Minister Medvedev, who also met with a select group of Asian Political party leaders including Senator Mushahid Hussain. The conference was hosted by the ruling United Russia Party.

It may be mentioned that ICAPP General Assembly was attended by 200 delegates from 70 political parties from 40 countries, with a concluding address by Russian Prime Minister Medvedev.
