Senators taking part in debate on law and order situation in the Senate have demanded effective security measures for the candidates contesting general elections.
Syed Tahir Hussain Mashdi said Tehreek-e-Taliban is targeting the candidates of MQM and other political parties to create unrest in the country.
Farhatullah Babar said top leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party is receiving threats and it is the responsibility of the caretaker government to provide them proper security.
Zahid Khan said candidates of ANP ‚ PPP and MQM are receiving threats from terrorists. He said the Election Commission and caretaker government should create equal ground for all political parties to contest the elections.
Saeed Ghani‚ Syed Mustafa Kamal‚ Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari and Mushahid Hussain Syed also demanded taking of proper measures to strengthen law and order to create conducive environment for elections.
Law Minister Ahmer Bilal Sufi assured that all necessary measures will be taken to redress grievances of the political parties and defeat the designs of the enemies.
