ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Senegalese President Macky Sall will arrive in Islamabad on a three-day official visit to Pakistan from April 22 to April 24.
His visit is being carried out as per invitation extended to him by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, said a statement issued by the PM’s Spokesman in Islamabad on Wednesday.
President Macky Sall will hold separate meetings with Pakistani leadership including his Pakistani Counterpart Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his visit, and discuss the entire spectrum of bilateral relations.
Last time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Macky Sall met was in September last year when the two leaders were in New York to participate in the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Sources said that the opposition parties can see the upcoming visit of Senegalese leader to Pakistan with a suspicious eye as the prime minister invited President Macky Sall at a time when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will possibly be holding a public gathering in the Federal Capital.
In addition, since Panama Papers Scandal has surfaced, the prime minister has curbed his diplomatic engagements and even cancelled his scheduled visit to Turkey to attend the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Summit. Rather the prime minister left for London for a medical checkup but according to sources, the opposition see the development as a new tactic by the ruling party for minimizing the opposition pressure.
