ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal government has posted Shafqat Jalil, a BS-21 Officer of Information Group, as Additional Secretary Incharge, Information & Broadcasting Division with immediate effect.
“Mr. Shafqat Jalil, a BS-21 Officer of Information Group, presently posted as Additional Secretary, Information & Broadcasting Division, is transferred and posted as Additional Secretary Incharge, Information & Broadcasting Division, with immediate effect and until further orders,” said the notification issued by the Establishment Division on Monday (October 15, 2018) in this regard.

Shafqat Jalil is presently posted as Additional Secretary
The post fell vacant after the transfer of the Secretary of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Sardar Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera.
As mentioned in the notification, Shafqat is presently posted as Additional Secretary; however, now he will assume the additional charge as Additional Secretary Incharge, Information & Broadcasting Division.
Earlier on July 4 this year, he was by the government its Principal Information Officer (PIO). He is also the acting Director General of Radio Pakistan.
Considered as highly professional and honest officer of Information Group, he started his career as Information Officer after passing out from Civil Service Academy. He is one of those officers of Civil bureaucracy whose promotions were delayed and denied during the last government of the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
First hos promotion was delay from grade 20 to 21 for two years despite of the promotion board cleared his promotion as he was top in the list. Then his promotion to grade 22 is also due long as promotion board was delay several times.
Shafqat Jalil was Press Secretary to Prime Minister Office when the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took over the charge but he replaced Shafqat Jalil within weeks with his hand-picked Mohiuddin Wanni of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), previously known as the District Management Group (DMG), because Wani had been serving Sharif family in several position in Punjab earlier.
Shafqat Jalil had had served at least three prime ministers as their Press Secretary and in between he was press attaché in Pakistan’s mission in New York that also looks after the United Nations.
