ISLAMABAD: The leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Tuesday demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) members to step down voluntarily, saying it was necessary for electoral reforms, media reports said.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader said that not only Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) but other parties had also reservations on the ECP.
Khursheed Shah said that several parties were raising question at the ECP, therefore its members should resign voluntarily.
On Sunday, in his address to the participants of the protest rally held at D-Chowk in Islamabad against alleged rigging in last year’s general elections and to press for reforms in election process, the PTI chairman Imran Khan also called for the resignation of all current members of the EPC and demanded a new independent elections commission.
