LAHORE, Pakistan: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday granted bail to the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif in a Money Laundering Case by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The bail was granted by a three-member bench of the LHC headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi in a unanimous decision.

The bench asked Shahbaz Sharif to submit two surety bonds worth Rs 5 million each.

Earlier during the course of the hearing, Shahbaz Sharif’s Counsel Azam Nazeer Tarar remarked before the Court that out of 110 witnesses, only 10 have recorded their testimony and nothing has yet been proved against his Client.

Therefore, Azam Nazeer appealed the bench to accept his bail plea, which was later granted.

Sources said that surety bonds against the bail of Shahbaz Sharif would be submitted on Friday and afterward, he would be released from jail.

Reacting to the Shahbaz Sharif’s bail, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz wrote on Twitter, “Every time Shahbaz was arrested, his only crime was being loyal to Nawaz Sharif. If you want to challenge Shahbaz, then do it in [his] service [to the people]. Services rendered to the nation cannot be erased through false cases.”
