KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi on Friday pronounced death penalty for Shahrukh Jatoi, main accused in the Shahzeb murder case, and his accomplice Siraj Talpur, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

However, the two other suspects in the case, Nawab Sajjad Ali Talpur and Murtaza Lashari, were given life imprisonment.

Jatoi’s lawyer said that he is not satisfied with the verdict and will review appeal against it. The ATC has given them seven days time to file review request.

The 20-year-old Shahzeb Khan, son of a DSP, was shot dead on the night of December 24, 2012 when he was returning home along with his sister after attending a wedding. He was murdered reportedly after he had an altercation with one of the suspects’ servant who had allegedly given verbal threats to the victim’s sister.

Seven people including Shahrukh Jatoi, Nawab Siraj Ali Talpur, his younger brother Nawab Sajjad Ali Talpur and their house servant Ghulam Murtaza Lashari were charged with killing Shahzeb in the city’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

However, the court declared three accused as absconders as they are still at large.
