ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Press Club (NPC) organized Sham-e-Qalandar on Saturday night during which fabulous performances based on Sufism enthralled the audience.
The audience which mostly comprised of journalists and their family members were entirely mesmerized when artist Saleem Khan sang various songs and qawwalis honoring famous Qalandars including Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
Some of audience members also performed Bhangra and Dhamaal (Sufi ritual dance) especially on Sufi Kalaam “Dama Dam Mast Qalandar” and “Taloo-e-Sehar Hai Sham-e-Qalandar” presented by the artist.
The audience expressed their gratitude to former President NPC Tariq Chaudhry for arranging such a lively Sufi night.
In the meantime, the three-day National Press Club Inter Media Badminton Championship 2017 also continues at the venue in which around 200 players including females are participating.
Some of the tournament matches are also being played under flood lights.
The badminton tournament was inaugurated on Friday in a ceremony also attended by Deputy Mayor Zeeshan Naqvi and Senior Journalists Hamid Mir.
The badminton tournament consists for four rounds. During the first round held on Friday, 32 matches were played. The second and third round of the tournament was played on Saturday (today) whereas the fourth round and final will be played on Sunday.
Under the leadership of President Shakeel Anjum and Secretary Imran Yaqoob Dhillon, the NPC has been striving to its fullest capacity for the welfare of Journalist Community.
Besides organizing various programs for journalists at the NPC, especial emphasize is also being laid on the Club’s development and renovation. Recently built beautiful Canopy Hall along with a Coffee Shop has now also been opened for events at the NPC Lawn.
