ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Islamabad United’s flamboyant opener Sharjeel Khan and pacer Mohammad Sami are all set to earn places in the Asia Cup and World Twenty20-bound squad and will replace injured Babar Azam and Ruman Raees, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official confirmed Monday.
Sharjeel scored the very first century of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as Islamabad United moved into the final with a comprehensive 50-run win against Peshawar Zalmi on Monday.
Meanwhile, T20 Skipper Shahid Afridi had earlier hinted in his post- match interview that Sharjeel would be rewarded for his superb knock. On the other hand Sami has clinched 11 wickets for 107 runs in 20.4 overs with an average of 9.72 in the PSL so far.
Talking to state-run news agency on condition of anonymity, the official said Sharjeel and Sami will replace Babar and Ruman for Asia Cup and World T20.
“Both Babar and Ruman have got injured therefore they will be replaced,” he said adding Rumman and Babar are having some fitness issues as well.
