The air strikes have been continuing in the tribal region since June 2014 when the armed forces began their offensive there as a part of efforts to end militancy in the country.

Earlier this month, the Pakistan army also launched its ground operation in Shawal area with an announcement that the military operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ in North Waziristan has entered into its final phase.

On August 27, the Army Chief General Raheel Sharif visited the Shawal area of North Waziristan and spent time with troops participating in fight against terrorists.

“Won’t allow anyone to kill our people, children in this country. Will expose all faces who helped them (terrorists) at any stage in any way,” General Raheel said during his visit to Shawal.

General Raheel also commended the troops for their outstanding performance in war against terrorism and appreciated their high state of morale.
