JEDDAH: Saudis and other Muslims in the Middle East are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today (Thursday) as the new moon for Islamic month of Shawwal was sighted on Wednesday evening in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

Saudi Arabian regime made the announcement of sighting Shawwal Moon officially on Wednesday evening and announced celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr on Thursday.

Most Muslim countries in Middle East are celebrating Eid today while majority of Muslims living in European countries, USA, and Canada are also celebrating Eid today.

Many tribal areas in Pakistan also announced of celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today with Saudi Arabia. Amongst those areas are included South Waziristam, Qambar Khel area of Khyber Agency, Mohmand Agency, and District Bannu’s Ahl-e-Hadis Jamat.

Shawwal Moon was sighted in Kuwait, UAE and other countries as well and people are celebrating Eid there but Oman announced of keeping 30th fast today, saying Shawwal Moon was not spotted in that country.

Pakistan’s Central Ruat-e-Hilal Committee will hold a meeting today to see Shawwal Moon. If Shawwal Moon is sighted, then people in Pakistan will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday (tomorrow).
