KARACHI, Pakistan: The Singh High Court (SHC) on Friday rejected appeals against death warrants of three death row prisoners.
The convicts whose mercy appeals were rejected include Shafqat Hussain, Behram Khan and Saeed Awan.
The execution of Behran Khan will take place on January 13 whereas Saeed Awan is scheduled to be hanged till death on January 15 in Sukkur.
LHC stops hanging of three death row convicts
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Friday accepted for hearing a petition for stopping the hanging of three persons convicted of attacking former President Pervez Musharraf in Rawalpindi in 2003.
A single-member bench of the LHC headed by Justice Amin Qazi accepted the petition filed by convicts including Khalid Mehmood, Nawazish Ali and Mushtaq Ahmed.
The convicts’ counsel colonel (retd) Inamur Rahim petitioned to the court, saying that they were unable to appeal against the death sentence handed down by the military court.
The LHC judge accepted their request for hearing of their appeals on January 12. The attorney general Salman Aslam butt has also been summoned for the same.
