KARACHI, Pakistan: The Sindh government would sign a mutual cooperation agreement with the Russian City of Saint Petersburg next month, the Russian Consul General in Karachi Alexander G. Khozin said on Wednesday.

In a meeting with the Chairperson Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) Naheed Memon in Karachi, the Russian Consul General said that the Sindh-Saint Petersburg agreement on mutual cooperation would be signed in Petersburg in October 2017.

The historical document would be signed by the Saint Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko and the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

The Russian Consul General said for the proposed signing ceremony in Petersburg, the Sindh Chief Minister had been formally invited.

In addition, he said a business forum would also be held on the sideline.

In her remarks on the occasion, the SBI Chairperson recalled that former Prime Minister of Pakistan and former Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave momentum to friendship between Pakistan and Russia, and Pakistan Steel Mills was a symbol of this relationship.

The SBI Chairperson said the PPP government of Sindh wanted to further strengthen friendly ties with Russia and its people so that the two sides could benefit from each other’s expertise and potential.
