KABUL: A suicide attack occurred outside the Afghan interior ministry in Kabul on Wednesday that left at least six police officers killed and injured four others.
“A suicide bomber wearing a military uniform detonated his explosives among visitors in the entrance of the MOI at 2.30 pm, as a result a number of police have been wounded,” a statement issued by the Afghan interior ministry stated.
Meanwhile, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the suicide attack outside the Afghan interior ministry.
The incident occurred a few days before the war-torn country will hold its third presidential and provincial council elections since the fall of the Taliban.
The Afghan Taliban have vowed a campaign of violence to disrupt the polls scheduled for April 5, urging their fighters to attack polling staff, voters and security forces in the run-up to election day.
