WANA, Pakistan: District South Waziristan is home to a diversity of stunning landscapes, scenic valley and picturesque places; hence tourists thronged to the beautiful region to enjoy the heavy snow that turned the Waziristan a ‘winter wonderland’.
Tourists from various parts of the country visited Waziristan to enjoy the snow-capped hilltops and snow-covered plans that further its beauty.
Some of the tourists, who came to the Waziristan for the first time, said that they had heard that Waziristan is a must-visit place because of its mouth-watering sceneries, but they didn’t believe it; however, they said they had found that truly it a wonderful place to visit.
Snowfall happened after a gap of about one-and-a-half-year which turned the weather pleasant; though it caused some hardship for local people due to lack of basic needs. The people of the area thoroughly enjoyed the snowfall since a large number of tourists thronged the area to enjoy the weather.
Various parts of South Waziristan district including Shakkai, Raghzai, Angoor Adda, Sega, Ladha, Makin, Sararogha, Azamwarsak and Kaniguram were completed turned white by the heavy snowfall, which turns sceneries more beautiful.
The tourists visiting various areas of the Waziristan were quite exited, as they were of the views “Dream comes true” to snow-clad resorts and forest-covered mountains and hilltops.
The tourists remained stuck in various areas, as roads closed due to heavy snowfall due to which they faced problems.
However, the local administration with the limited resources was trying their best to clear the roads to ease the woes of the public at various parts of the districts.
Deputy Commissioner South Waziristan Hameedullah Khan visited Makin, Ladha and Sararogha areas of Ladha Sub Division and directed highway authorities to depute field staff to clear roads of heavy snowfall and land sliding in these areas.
During visit, Deputy Commissioner has checked various roads where heavy snowfall continued to lash areas.
Assistant Commissioner Wana Amir Nawaz monitored snow clearance on Raghzai, Khamrang and Angoor Adda road carried out by field staff of Highway Division, which was blocked due to recent snowfall.
Talking to this scribe, Idress Khan said that undisputedly Waziristan is home to stunning landscapes, picturesque places, snow-covered sky-rising mountains and frozen streams and lakes that is why tourists are coming to the far-flung area.
However, he said that the government paid no attention to develop the beautiful piece of land in the past due to which it lacks basic infrastructures.
Idress Khan said that the incumbent government is giving great importance to the tourism sector; hence the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government should speed up develop works in the areas to make the best tourist destination of the country.
He demanded of the government to construct link roads, make rest houses and developed the scenic places so as to attract more tourists to the area.
Another tourist, Hamayun Khan said that he thoroughly enjoyed the snowfall, which he never saw before so it was memorable and unforgettable experience.
The tourist said though he belonged to the beautiful valley Shakkai, he didn’t see snowfall since he shifted to Dera Ismail Khan with other family members in winter season to avoid the harsh cold weather and for better education and employment opportunities.
However, he also complained of absence of basic facilities for tourists to stay there and the problems they are facing due to dilapidated roads.
He demanded of the government to pay little attention to the beautiful and long-neglected area as it could be made tourists favorite destination.
