LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is passing through critical times, adding that some people want to divide people to fulfill their evil designs.

In his address at Ulema Convention held in Lahore on Saturday, Shahbaz Sharif said that Islam preaches peace for all, and sectarian hatred must be condemned.

“We believe in Finality of Prophethood,” the Chief Minister said. “We will not compromise our stance of Finality of Prophethood,” he added.

The issue of Finality of Prophethood (Khatm-i-Naboowat) gripped the Country late last year when activists of two religious parties held a long match-turned sit-in in Islamabad, seeking the resignation of the then Federal Law Minister for being responsible in bringing amendment in Election Act 2017 pertaining to Khatm-i-Naboowat.

Though the federal government later resolved the issue with army’s mediation and resignation of the law minister but the Punjab government yet continued to deal with it.

In December last year, three members of Punjab assembly belonging to ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) also tendered their resignations over the issue of Finality of Prophethood while Sargodha-based spiritual leader Pir Hameeduddin Sialvi has now announced to launch a movement at Data Darbar in Lahore from January 9 as a pressure tactic to take Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah’s resignation.
