PESHAWAR: Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural was killed on Thursday when a suicide bomber detonated himself near Khanís official vehicle on the Ring Road, Pishtakhara Chowk.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Peshawar Tahir Ayub told Dispatch News Desk (DND) that SP Kalam Khan lost his life in the attack while two other cops in his vehicle were wounded.
The chief of the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) Shafqat Malik said it was a suicide attack in which six kilogrammes of explosives and ball bearings were used.
Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan’s Darra Adamkhel chapter has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying Kalam Khan was targeted for carrying out actions against the militants.
