The significance of Ramazan has been highlighted in the Holy Quran and Hadithes multiples times.
Surah Al-Baqarah; Ayat 183
“O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.”
Surah Al-Baqarah; Ayat 185
“The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.”
More than usual, Muslims throng mosques to offer prayers and recitation of the Holy Quran while in last 10 days of Ramazan, Muslim observe Aitekaf in various mosques.
The Holy Month of Ramazan has immense importance in Islamabad as not only Muslims are bound to observe Fast throughout the month from dawn until sunset; rather, the Holy Quran was also revealed in this sacred month.
Throughout Ramazan, Muslims apart from performing other religious rituals also offer Taraweeh prayers in which the whole Holy Quran is recited.
