Suicide blast near Lahore’s police lines, eight killed

LAHORE, Pakistan: A powerful bomb explosion took place near the Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh in Lahore on Tuesday that left at least 12 persons including a police assistant sub inspector dead and several others injured.

The Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains said that it was a suicide blast, adding that the target of the attack was the Police Lines but the security measures forced the bomber to detonate his explosives prematurely.

The dead bodies and injured persons were shifted to the Mayo and Ganga Ram hospitals in Lahore while an emergency had been imposed.

Meanwhile, heavy contingents of the police and law enforcing agencies cordoned off the area.
