ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday termed the arrest of the former Prime Minister and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust Case unlawful and ordered to release him immediately.

A three-member bench of the Apex Court headed by the Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, and comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar were hearing the former prime minister’s plea against his arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust Case.

In its directives, the Supreme Court directed Imran Khan to appear before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday and comply by the orders issued by the said Court.

Before the Court, Imran Khan said that he was kidnapped from the IHC and pelted with sticks. He said that even criminals are not treated this way.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan instructed the party workers to remain peaceful, saying the no harm should be inflicted upon the Country.

Imran Khan said that the PTI workers must demonstrate restraint and be peaceful. He said that they don’t want chaos in the Country,; rather, they only want elections in the Country.

Earlier, the PTI Central Secretary Information Farrukh Habib welcomed the apex court’s decision terming the detention of PTI Chairman as illegal.

Farrukh Habib said that the Supreme Court gave a historic decision to declare Imran Khan’s detention as illegally. He said that the entire nation should offer ‘Thanksgiving Prayers’.
