Swine flu in India, Travel between India and Pakistan may be suspended

 

Lahore, Pakistan: The Health authorities in Pakistan have suggested ministry of foreign affairs and ministry of trade to suspend all type of traffic to and from India at Lahore as well as Kashmir crossing after Swine flu is extensively spreading in Indian Punjab, Haryana and Indian-held Kashmir, reports Dispatch News Desk news agency.

According to sources, the Health authorities have also suggested releasing Travel advisory to and from India. Over 1200 have already died in India mostly in Indian Punjab, Haryana and Indian-held Kashmir by Swine flu during the last one week.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is taking other measures to control virus in Pakistan areas and Punjab government held a special meeting in Lahore to review the status of measures the other day. The meeting was chaired by provincial Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique. Additional Secretary Health Technical Dr. Salman Shahid, Dean Institute of Public Health Prof. Moaz Ahmed, Additional Secretary Livestock Dr. Iqbal Shahid, Director Health (CDC) Dr. Ahmed Afifi, Deputy Secretary Medical Education Dr. Nasir Shakir, Additional Director Health Dr. Abdul Razzaq and representative of WHO Dr. Yahya attended the meeting.

It was decided in the meeting to take steps according to SOPs and guidelines of CDC Atlanta and WHO in the province. Surveillance staff of all districts has been provided necessary training and awareness in Lahore and Tami flue tablets being used in H1 N1 flue has been provided in abundance in all districts.
