PESHAWAR: A key member of the Taliban negotiating committee Professor Ibrahim Khan said on Tuesday that the Taliban have not demanded implementation of Shariah, but they have proposed release of their noncombatant prisoners.
Talking to media persons in Peshawar on Tuesday, he said that it will be better for both the sides to release each other’s noncombatant prisoners.
Ibrahim further said that the proposed meeting between the Taliban and government committees could not be held due to bad weather. He said that venue of the meeting has been finalized and meeting will take place in a couple of days.
The Taliban committee member said that it is our earnest effort that ceasefire should be changed into long-lasting peace.
Moreover, he said that the Taliban have assured to take steps for convincing other groups involved in terrorist activities to maintain truce.
